Church for young people

At St Francis’ we welcome all young people to join us and explore the Christian Faith. We have provision for all ages from new-born to 18 years old.  For toddlers who prefer to stay close to parents or carers we have a box of colouring pencils, colouring sheets and Bible story books at the back of the Worship space for little ones to explore.

crecheWe have a crèche, staffed as required, on every Sunday morning except the first Sunday.  Then parents may use the crèche with their own very young children if they wish, while still being able to hear the service.
Junior_Church_LogoWe cater for children from 3 year olds and upwards up to 11 years old (School years R – 6) on the 2nd – 5th Sundays of each month.

All age groups meet together in the Large Meeting Room for the start of each session but may then split out into groups for more age-appropriate activities.  Junior Church lasts for approx. 40 mins, and then children are able to join their parents in church for Communion.  Once a month (on the 3rd Sunday) the Children stay out for the full hour. This gives us chance to try something a bit different – a longer craft activity, or some drama perhaps. We’ve even written prayers or eaten lots of food in this session!  Parents are encouraged to come along and help at least once a term in the work of Junior Church – no preparation is needed for this, it’s just lovely to see you and to have your help and support.

Sunday ClubSunday Club is for ages 11 – 15 approx. (School Years 7-10) and runs on 2nd – 5th Sundays.  The focus of the 40 minute sessions is on bible study relating to the young people’s lives and how they can learn to be Christians in a community.  The meetings take place in the chapel during the the main service.  On some occasions the group join the main service and also get involved in running the service.
teenagersSunday @ Seven
Sunday @ Seven is an evening “House Group” for young people in School years 10 and above, meeting in the Church.  It is a time where there is an opportunity for young people to chat together, study the bible and pray in an informal atmosphere.
Recently our young people have been following an informal “Youth Alpha” Course.

For further information about our provision for young people please contact our Youth Teaching Co-ordinator, Alison Rhodes via the Parish Office.
